How to drop NDS games into your iEGDE cartridge

A While ago, I was working on another article: “How to install Wood R4 into your R4 Cartridges”. However, somebody had sent me an urgent email. He was asking me if I can instruct him how to drop / place his favorite games into his “iEdge card”. In other terms, he is asking for help – placing his NDS games inside his “Micro SDHC card”.

Right, if anybody else is asking for this sort of tutorial, please refrain from panicking and asking me for advice. I am in the middle of a dilemma and I have an article that needs to be written.

Notes: this tutorial is only for user who has an up – to – date version of iEdge (Version 1.4+) with the original operating systems. If you haven’t update your iEdge card or install the main operating systems. There is no point of reading this article if you haven’t done these in the first place…

Checklist
——————-
1 x DSi – Version 1.4 \ DS Lite
1 x iEDGE USB reader or similar product that reads “Micro SDHC” cards
1 x iEDGE cartridge + “Micro SDHC” cards
1 x Installed operating systems + updated firmware

1.] Take out your “Micro SDHC” card and plug it into your “iEDGE USB reader”.
2.] Plug your “iEDGE USB reader” into a USB port. In other terms, just plug the little thing into your computer.
3.] Wait for it to synchronize and look for your “Micro SDHC” card. The actual card is located in this area: “My Computer”.
4.] Create a new folder and called it as: “Games / NDS”. However, this folder has to be placed on you’re your root directory! For example, I create a new folder: “NDS” and it will look like this: “F:\NDS” (without the quotes).
5.] Safely remove your “iEdge USB” reader and insert your “Micro SD” card into your Nintendo DSi / DS Lite.
4.] Bootup your DS console and have fun!

Safety Check: you will need some sort of Checksum program. I would recommend this: http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/
—————————
Warning: the “iEdge” has an onboard LED which will begin to flash, this can be seen by looking at the point near the middle of the cartridges. This is a signal telling you that the update is in progress. However, at this critical moment, you should leave the DS consol alone and interfere with the process.

12.] When the DS cartridge stops flashing, you will need to switch off your DS console and switch it on.

13.] You are done! Grab a cold drink and enjoy yourself!!

How do I block ICMP request with Comodo Firewall?

This tutorial is rather tricky for me to write. But, don’t worry. I do all the hard work and you interpret my tutorial. That is how you learn… Correct?

Anyway, if you want to configure ‘Comodo Firewall’, just to block, drop and ignore ping (ICMP Echo) requests, you will need to choose this method which is shown below. But, if you aren’t sure what these things do. I would recommend you to read this article carefully, just before you start the actual tutorial.

Notes: When you are online, there is always a visible connection between your host and your computer. These are your TCP, UPD, ICMP and IP connections. But, for now, here is a short explanation about your ‘ICMP protocal’.

The ‘internet message protocol (ICMP)’ is one of the core – function from your operating system’s network. It relies on individual IP addresses to perform its task, and it is also an important part between the IP protocol and the server’s IP protocol. However, it is not being used directly by the user network. But, there is an exception between the ping tools and traceroute function. These can be used by any users and cyber-criminal for different purposes. It can also be used to attack other users remotely. Therefore, this tutorial will show you how to divert ICMP attacks by blocking it with your Firewall.

Warning: this tutorial is only for “Comodo Firewall” users! If you don’t have one, please direct yourself to this website and download a copy. But, don’t worry about dishing out your money. It is FREE for individual users.
——————————–

http://www.comodo.com/

——————————–

1.] Execute Comodo’s control panel and select: “Firewall >> Advance >> Network Security Policy >> Select: Global Rules.”

2.] Click ‘Add’ and set the following parameters.

Action: BLOCK
Protocol: ICMP
Direction: IN
Source IP: ANY
Destination IP: ANY
ICMP Details: Message = ICMP Echo Request

3.] When you are done with the parameter, you will need to move the rules above the ‘catch all BLOCK rule’.

4.] You’re done!

Alternative methods for inexperience users

1.] Execute Comodo’s control panel and select: “Firewall >> Stealth Ports Wizard”.

2.] Inside the ‘Wizard’ panel, there should be three options for you to choose. But, to stay hidden, you will need to select option three: “Block all incoming connections – stealth my ports to everyone”.

3.] Click Finish and hide your panel.

4.] You’re now hidden from remote attackers and malicious attackers.
Microsoft WGA without class action status!

Yesterday, I’ve heard this news from somebody else! They told me that there was a lawsuit that is trying to sue Microsoft for adding “Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA)” anti-piracy patch onto Windows XP users and disguised it as a high priority update in “Windows Update Center”. Nonetheless, if it had been given “class action status,” this could allow anyone who had owned a copy of Windows XP disk, then, they would have been able to join the lawsuit without hiring a lawyer. So, in my own judgment, this anti-piracy patch, it sounds very dodgy. It also acts like a monitoring software and eats all of your computer resources at boot-up! Even worse, it may retrieve sensitive data and send them back to their headquarters for analysis. Therefore, I would recommend everybody to keep an eye on “WGA” connections and block it from accessing your network.
Backup your Outlook Mailbox for the worse occasion!

Introduction: when I was working on my design project, my head was thinking about a mini – tutorial for Ms-Outlook user. But, don’t get me wrong! Microsoft Outlook is a very good mailbox, especially, if you have a private server with your very own email account. It will also come in handy, if you’re working for a large company.

On the other hand, if you’re working in a company with a lot of important emails (which is stored in your inbox), you better think about creating a backup of your mailbox, just incase you lost your important assignment or schedule.

Alright, here is the tutorial for backing up your “Outlook” mailbox.

1.] Start your Outlook Mailbox and click on: “Tools >> Options >> Maintenance Tabs”

2.] In the “Store Folder” dialog box, you need to copy the directory.
All you need to do is highlight the directory and press ‘Crtl+C’ to copy the contents.

3.] Click ‘Cancel’ twice to close the dialog box.

4.] At this stage, you need to click: “Start >> Run >> ‘Crtl+V’ – Paste the contents >> Press Enter.”

5.] Highlight every file and make a backup with a new – empty – folder.

6.] Store the backup folder into an external drive.

7.] You’re done!
It explains the effect on “Denial – Of – Service – Attack”. However, the main owner who invented this DDoS engine, it’s still a mystery to the world and cyberspace. I could have notice!

Right! Today, we are going to learn something that is hidden from an Apple Mac systems. We called it: “Ping”.

The function of “Ping” will allow you to send multiple signals to a domain / IP addresses and see if they are alive, expired or unknown. This tutorial is pretty straight forward and it’s like Windows. However, we are not using CMD command. What we are using is “Ping”, which is from a Mac Os – Utility Program.

1.] Double-click on your “Hard Drive icon >> Application Folder >> Utility Folder >> Network Utility Program.”

2.] Wait for the dialogue box to open and the “Ping” tab. After that, just enter the hostname / IP addresses and press Enter.

3.] Finally, all you need to do is wait for the results!

4.] Finish.
How to identify unknown devices and backup drivers

Introductions: when I was reading PC Magazine, my head was telling me to stop reading, due to their boring facts and information that are really basic. But, I am glad to close it and burned it to shreds… that is right… I burned it to hell!

Anyway, since I am not updating my articles for a while, I will just write something to keep all of you entertain. So, how about reading this article? Just read the title and you’ll understand…

1.] Unknown Device Identifier: this software was created by Zhangduo company. They created this software to let you identify the ‘yellow question mark’ which is labeled as Unknown Devices in Device Manager.

Secondly, they can also give you a report (detailed summary) for the manufacturer name, OEM name, device type, device model and the true name of the unknown devices. Also, with this utility, you can convert your un-identified devices into identified devices and find appropriate driver on the Internet.

Download source: http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html
Mirror: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Unknown-Device-Identifier.shtml

Alternative: if you don’t want to use the software which is given above, then please use this software as your second choice. However, this software is still under maintenance, so I would like you to be cautious and self aware.
Mirror: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Unknown-Devices.shtml

2.] Driver Magician: this applications can help you backup your drivers for the worse occasion. It can also backup third party drivers, such as: Apple iPod devices, HP devices and others that are hard to recover. However, from my efforts, some HP printers and scanners hates (doesn’t like) their drivers being backed up. So, you got to be careful…

Mirror: http://www.drivermagician.com/download.htm

Notes: if you have the money, I would recommend you to buy their full version. With their registered version, you can Update your ‘device drivers’ through the internet; detecting unknown devices and Back up more items like “My Documents and Registry”.

Alternative: if you don’t like the software which is shown above, you can use this software instead: WinDriver Expert.

Download source: http://zhangduo.com/driverbackup.html

Notes: for beginner, please use “Driver Magicain” as your first choice.
It’s far easier to back – it – up than “WinDriver Expert”.

Uttorent – How to block IP addresses

Introduction: On Tuesday, I had this email from a college student. He asked me this question and I was a little shocked! The question which he told me, it is related to uTorrent – file sharing…

“When I am at home, I’ve notice some strange domains and IP address from a specific provider. However, some of them is a little suspicious. But, don’t worry about my file sharing – habit! I am only sharing my written novel – using Torrent websites. So, could you please write an article that can help me block / filter a range of IPs and other harmful torrent leeches?”

Answer: thanks for the short email. But, you got to know the rules! Sharing illegal files through torrents is very dangerous; un-healthy for your computer and privacy!
If you go beyond these road, then, there is no turning back!

Anyway, I am glad that you’re not sharing anything that is pirate / dangerous. So, here is a little reward for you to read and learn. But, please keep away from being an evil torrent user!

That is the GOLDEN rule in Cyber-Space!!

——————————-

Notes: this tutorial will only effect uTorrent v 1.8.3 or higher. So, please update your software before you read this article…

1.] Execute Uttorent and navigate yourself to these tabs and setting: “Options >> Preferences >> Advance”.

Notes: you can also press ‘Ctrl+P’ to open the Preferences dialog.

2.] Scroll down until you see “ipfilter.enable” and check if its value is set to “True”. If not, just select “ipfilter.enable” and change it.

3.] When you’re done, just exit Uttorent and copy this into “My Computer” – address bar. This is because, the actual folder is hidden from being alter / deleted by accident.
However, when you’re in there, please be very careful!

%appdata%\utorrent

4.] Download Notepad++ (notepad-plus.sourceforge.net) and create a file called: ipfilter.dat. After that, you can add a single IP address or a range of IP address.

5.] Save your progress and drag the following file (ipfilter.dat) to this location…

%appdata%\utorrent

6.] If you have uTorrent open, just click: “Reload IPFilter“. This can be found from your “Peer” tabs. That is all…

Notes: if you want to find out individual peer’s IP address, you can use this website / software to get the information.
