Vol8-Things to look forward when you use Facebook

Vol 8 – Things to look forward when you use Facebook

Facebook was known as a social networking site by dozens of people, internet users and large companies. They were launched in February 2004 – owned by Facebook, Inc. By 2009, the charts were lifted and there were about 400 millions – active users and others alike. Not to mention, within these large figures, there are spammers, hackers and others who tried to trick users by distributing / attacking others account.

From now on, I will show you these horrifying facts and I would like everyone to take this lesson seriously. It is for your own safety and privacy.

Can social networking site be dangerous?

Any social sites can be classified as a dangerous for everyone! But, there is an exception for Twitter, Digg, Google Buzz, Linkdin and others (friendly networking services). These sites aren’t harmful and they don’t act like a real chat board. Most of them will provide benefits, such as: “placing your CV to find jobs, upload artwork and share or publish your articles for everyone to read.” Although, there are social sites which you have to be careful, for example: “Bebo, Myspace, Habbo and many other small social sites.

Many users think ‘Facebook’ is fun, user friendly and safe.

Let me tell this story and true facts. It will also scare the life out of your mind. But, I am going to be honest and I will tell you the truth. Including the dark side behind Facebook.

When I first use Facebook to promote my website and services, it was a bad mistake and it was known as a bad neighbour website. This is because, the site (Facebook) was known for exploiting fraud, scam and serious techniques that will throw your account out of your door! Even worse, there are other people who post photos with their kids, spouses cheating on their husband and other contents that look so disgusting, as if I want to puke! But, I am not going to say it. It may physically hurt anyone…

Secondly, Facebook was highly known for thrashing everybody’s time! What you do is ‘absolutely’ killing your time and couldn’t care-less for important tasks. That is why they are blocked from schools, college and university for a reason. They are even blocked by individual companies and I am not kidding you! Most staff will love to hang around and get their thumbs paid. However, they will just get booted, if they tried to bypass the policy and break the rules.

Thirdly, did you know that there are other users who hide themselves, and tricked you from thinking, that he / she are just kids or as your friend? This will always happen and it will be the biggest fraud / scam you will ever encounter! Believe me, if they try to ask you for your phone number or anything else, then good luck with that. It may be a trap and it may not. But, who knows if the buddy that you see, is real? They must have hacked / taken control of your friend’s account and trick you. It’s scary and I know! It happened before and Facebook is trying their best to stop this. However, when there is a ban, there will be ten more that will join this ridiculous fraud. That is right; they will try to make your life as miserable as possible!

Fourthly, there are rapist and hijackers on the run. We all called them “paedophiles and jackers”, for short. Now, the thing is, there are students (including you) who is a target. These scums will do anything, just to gain pleasure and find your home. But, don’t get me wrong about this situation. Even adult (mostly woman) has this problem with other social sites. There are tons of users who will try to act normal and break your protected barrier, just to see you in personal. Although, the sad thing about this is that, you can be killed, hurt, raped or even taken away as bait to make money. This fact is true and you don’t really want to be stuck in the middle of this dilemma. So, please take my advice and don’t give out your home address, phone numbers and anything else that is important to you.

For parents who read this paragraph, then, please accept my apologies. I am writing this to make your children, students and yourself be a little more aware. I don’t want you to be a victim and be tricked by these horrible people. I also felt sorry for the lost of many students and children. Take Ashleigh as an example. She was brutally murdered by a sex offender. She was only 17 years of age and she was part of a loving family. Also, there was another teenage girl, Nona Belomesoff. She was found two days after the trip with a man. This incident was brought up by the police. They said it was a set up (Facebook profile) primarily for an animal welfare group. However, it was all a trick! Overall, I was totally shocked when I read these news on BBC website. I felt so sorry for their lost…

There are lots of games and programs on Facebook! Let’s give it a try…

Alright everyone, Just hold your horses for a minute! I want you to read this paragraph and think again.

Within those years and time-frame, Facebook had allowed many companies and individuals to advertise various games, which are based on Flash or from another source. Take Farmville as an example. The actual developer created these games to gain cash, just by converting real money into ‘in – games’ currency. But, what about the other user who refuses to pay for these offer? They will generally (most of the time) get bad offers which could lead to spam, fraud and even phish you for wasting your money and your time.

For those who played these games and other flash games, then, you may want to stay clear from fake scams, such as: “fake mobile subscription” that will eat your phone – bill for every scan you made! That is right folks, this scam is still active and it’s not dead. Even worse, the developer will use ‘complex structure’, just to try and get you through for payment. This is because, they want to make more money and make life worse for everyone.

On the other hand, Facebook did try to enforce new laws and take out scam. But, it doesn’t always work and the rules are ignored by developers. They are also ‘rarely’ blocked by Facebook and other social sites. So, what made the owner (Facebook) ignore these problems? It’s all down to the number of user, advertisement and big money. Oh yeah! Let’s say “Money Laundry” for Facebook!

If you are unsure about scam and fraud, then here is an example: a typical scam is when a user are offered to take a quiz or filling out a form. This can be anything – straight to IQ survey. But, please bear in mind that there are many other scams online – not just survey. Some will even asks for your phone number or house address to deliver fake goods to your home. But, it doesn’t turn out to be that way. In other terms, you may be putting yourself at risks and get your credit card hijacked. Even worse from cold flu, some of these offers will secretly subscribe you to monthly payments!

Counting down to software and other services, most of these games will secretly add some hideous toolbars, which you can’t really remove. These are like Ad-wares or some sort of sneaky tactics to generate revenue. Therefore, if I go deeper, there will be more like this that will force you to click a button. But, you can’t get yourself out. So, you only have one option: click continue or whatever it is and get your machine infected. Although, there will be many of you that will say: “my security software is going to protect my computer!” Well, that is fine and good for you. However, some of these software will reinstall themselves and become active. Some will even disable your security – programs and download other stuff that you don’t want or really need! In the end of your day or decision, the advertised software could collect important information and bankrupt your money and kill your computer.

So, there you go people! Please keep playing until you get mugged! That is what you are going to get if you don’t take my advice.

What are hoax? Does it exist within Facebook?

With this question on the list, then it is outright dangerous! There are still “FAKE” anti-virus being advertised on Facebook. This is seriously not a joke and what is going on with the administrator? Well, the only thing that I can think of is big money for them and getting our computer busted, just because of them. So, how can you find these? That is easy.

The first option for these hoaxes is pop-ups. These nasty pops can either be integrated by a hacker, or, secretly hiding it with another flash game or software.

The second option is by taking an online survey, which I’ve written earlier in this chapter. However, when you see this, just get your butt out and don’t take it! Although, in some occasion, the software may activate ‘silently’ when you access that page. So, for the best privacy and protection, please avoid these in advance and be careful!

Finally, I would like everyone to stay clear from these offers, such as: “This is how I made money online” scheme. That is also an absolute SCAM! Be extra careful with these hooligans! Even worse, many of these services has their own website that forces you to click on something. But, I am not sure to how I can describe this. Its very complicated!

Conclusion

From my point of view, Facebook and other large social sites are very picky. They will try anything just to make money and make themselves known as king! I also took notice of their privacy policy. However, parts of their policy for scam, fraud and many others are still being ignored! We can’t let them do something like that and its just putting everyone at risk.

In my previous paragraph, I am still shocked and horrify! There are children and students being targeted by these bad people! However, Facebook can’t help it. They only think about collecting money and more advertisement in their hands!

Flash games on Facebook needs to be ban – completely! These horrible toolbar and aggressive adverts are killing everyone’s time, money and our computer! I would also like to say that there is STILL too many adverts that advertise on making money and gaining revenue. But, yes, making money online is alright. However, doing it in the wrong way and scamming everybody’s’ money is a criminal offence. It is also against the online safety act!

Finally, I would like to say that I am sorry for the lost of everybodies’ loved ones. I was totally affected by the news and I just don’t know what to say! While writing this article, I cried and cried. The world is not a peaceful place and there will be bad people roaming the net. Please people and family… please distribute this article read this to your kids in any you want.

Thank you for your support. Please be safe and please think again before joining Facebook.

Thanks again…
