Fix iTunes Folder

Fix iTunes Folder

Introduction: When I relocate my “My Music” folder, my iTunes apps just couldn’t find the original folder that was moved to a secondary drive. To solve this issue, please follow this tutorial.

Method One
——————–

1.] Backup your registry library and hit Start >> Run.

3.] Type “regedit” and hit Enter.

4.] Navigate through your library and look for this line…
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

5.] Delete any entry for “My Music.”

6.] Scroll up and look for this line…
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

7.] Make sure there is an entry for “My Music” which is pointing by default.
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music

Notes: Please don’t go below “My Music” folder. If you do this it will not work!

8.] Close your registry library and reboot your system!

Method Two
——————–

1.] Backup your registry library and hit Start >> Run.

3.] Type “regedit” and hit Enter.

4.] Navigate through your library and look for this line…
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

5.] Edit “My Music” directory.
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music

Example: username = Lair360
Full location: C:\Documents and Settings\Lair360\My Documents\My Music

6.] Close your registry library and reboot your system!

Method Three
——————-

1.] Click >> Start >> Run >> Type: regedit

2.] Navigate to the following registry key…

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

3.] Change the value of this string: “My Music” to the actual directory (where you keep your music).

4.] Navigate to the following registry key…

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

5.] Change the value of “My Music” to the folder where you actually keep your music.

6.] Navigate to the following registry key…

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes

The value of the string “Win2KMyMusicFolder” should read: “iTunes” [without quotes].
Some have suggested changing this value, but please leave it alone, if you don’t know what you are doing!

Notes: you will need a folder called iTunes under the folder where you actually keep your music. For example, if your music folder is relocated to “F:\”, then you will need a folder named “F:\iTunes” which contains a copy of your “iTunes Library.itl” and “iTunes Music Library.xml”.

7.] Restart your computer and enjoy iTunes!
